Motoring experts are advising people not to buy from online used car auctions. As one family found out, consumers aren’t always protected when things go wrong.

I think the only reason why the auction offered the money back was because of CH 7 doing the story & the deal was made not to mention the auction place.
Nah i would never buy without a test drive and a 3rd party inspection.
Why didn't he buy a land Rover
Stupid beat up story, find out what is actually wrong with the car, it might be minor. The rust underneath wasn't structural, clean it up yourself and spray it with a can, it'll be perfectly serviceable.
Needing a jump start for an auction car worried this guy, how clueless can you be? They sit, they don't get driven, the battery goes flat, the guys there will help you get it started.
LOVE TO KNOW WHICH AUCTION HOUSE THIS WAS? SOME ARE WORST THAN OTHERS….AND CONSUMERS SHOULD KNOW THIS….IF THE AUCTION HOUSE OWNS THE CAR THEY ARE SELLING THEY ARE OBLIGED TO PROVIDE STAT WARRANTY, AND IF ITS REGISTERED A CURRENT SAFETY CERTIFICATE, HOWEVER THEY DONT SEEM TO DO THAT
I feel bad for you man. We brought a car from a car dealer except we inspected it. Two days later car starts shitting itself. $3000 out of pocket in repairs for a vehicle that wasn't road worthy to begin with. A finance loan on top of this too! Best buys auto In Campbelltown are a bunch of liars and rip offs!
must be an aussie thing to put down someone buying a car online without test drive or being able to inspect. No ebay down under? i guess carvana is only a usa buy online deliver it to your home thing. Maybe there needs to be some better consumer laws down there..btw, how's those toll road hiked up fees going?
Used Car warranties are not worth the paper they are written on whether you buy from an auction house or a used car yard… all used car warranty operators are shonky as hell I'm out $750 for extended warranty plus fixing initial problem plus other problems caused by the initial problem paid 7k for a car plus $750 for warranty after paying the bill for the mechanical work plus shonky warranty I'm out $4750 plus my hours and hours of my time at $40ph pfffft Never Agian mate
We took all our savings and brought a car we couldn’t see didn’t inspect in hopes that it would be perfect 👍. Unbelievable that anything went wrong 😑
This might sound insensitive, but it's simply stupidity to buy a car sight unseen, let along from an Auction house! Hope it will be a life lesson for you mate!
JUMPOP
Rust haha
Typical zd
Their latest scam (I'm a victim) is to include that $699 12 month warranty in the final invoice price charged to your card without you even requesting said warranty, seeing any button or buy this additional added extra product etc etc on the bid page, the final sold page, or the congratulations you've won page sent via email. First I knew about the warranty was the figure in the invoice which was issued AFTER they had already had taken the money out of my account. The warranty was clearly added to my purchase after auction closing, which is Fraud! – THEFT!!. They want me to jump through hoops to get that money back that they STOLE!!!
Auction cars are cheap for a reason, they're most certainly not all lemons but for your average joe who isn't prepared to do they're own work it's not worth it but there is no false advertising. All auctions sites greys, manheims or pickles are sold as is and you are a complete tool for not going to look at it in person.
Good choice 👌
These are the most generic angry middle class consumers I’ve ever seen
I purchased a 4WD from a Sydney car yard which was sold as a Reposetion , and with a clear title , and no damage what so ever…
But it was a repairable write off and had been flooded up to the roof line , the engine had been hydraulic locked , had 2 bent conrods , a broken diesel fuel injector and cracked piston…
I spent 9 months making enquiries, and made about 300 phone calls to everyone imaginable and the most I could get was , buyer beware , and you bought it , it's your problem…
So I spent $9000 to fix it…
And the moral of the story is , used car dealers are scum of the earth…
The "GOVT" wont help you…
Thanks to John , from Sydney 4×4…..
Auction… You think your smarter than people paying more?
I feel he's pain. I also got stung by grays online
this is pickle auction website
which is the auction house no name??? Waist of our time!!!!
Anyone have any review about GraysOnline?
You paid 600 use the rest to fix it up
Man his neck tho
Was this slattery auctions, pickles auctions or graysons lol someone tell me cause not all car auctions are bad
looks like its been a beach buggy…salt is bad
Haha i’lld love to see their parents. Must be extra stupid to breed these two
Always try before you buy where possible and if they won't let you, don'y buy it
Read reviews. Don't buy if you can't test drive. Make sure you look over the car thoroughly before buying. Common bloody sense. Never rely on someones "word" rely on yourself or a close friend that knows what they are lookin at
Most cars sitting in auction yards have flat batteries.
So stupid they deserve it go look at it first if its to far away buy from somwhere closer
Double head nack
Test before you drive, your mistake for believing what ever they said
There selling lemons to honest folks
All you had to do was a quick google search and you would of found out those zd30 motors are rubbish and thats why everyone sells them potoroos before 200,00ks. it has the nick name the grenade for a reason.
one thing you never buy a car on line
Women stubs toe on Milkbar step… "I can't ever take my family to the shops again we are all traumatized " Australians have become the biggest bunch of softys around in the past 10 years lol.. Diesel patrols are only ever cheap when there rooted
I mean why WOULD u buy online without trying it out?
